About Us

This project is more then the opening of another Temple. It is about bringing a community together to build a place where everyone is welcome and respected.

Community Centres:

Community Centres are a physical resource, which acts as a focal point for activity by a geographical or identity based community.

Centres are a meeting place for local interest based clubs and societies, rooms for adult education classes, venues for public meetings, offices for community projects, plus many other uses.

It can be a lifeless building, lacking character, if they are not 'owned' by the community. People provide warmth, which makes centres welcoming to all sections of the community.

Places like this can provide an opportunity for an education in democratic practice and citizenship through the management of the resource by a member-participant organisation containing representations from both individuals and groups. Local people can learn that democracy involves accepting duties and responsibilities as well as receiving rights
